There are two different type of festival that said to stands out from the rest. These are the “Holy week” and the “Malaga Feria”. These events were officially accepted by the local people, many people are celebrating these festivals with a lot of dedication during this time.
People in Malaga used to celebrate the Holy Week as their fiesta. It is a religious event where in you will be able to witness processions along the streets praying for a novena within nine days devotion. It is solemn.
However, the Feria is full of fun, when August falls; this is one of the most famous fiestas in Spain being celebrated. During this event they used to share their music, they sing together, people were dancing with flamenco.
There are two different kinds of Ferias they consider, during day time at the city proper and at the Cortijo de Torres during night time. All over August, the fun never stops; the fun goes on until the break of dawn.
Aside from the Fiestas and the Holy week that the people of Malaga have been celebrated, Carnival at the same time is one of those celebrations of Malaga festivals. Carnival is celebrated in February, it is an ancient tradition that has been lost but was regained after twenty years.
Mostly people who live in Malaga are religious, they believed in many saints. In Fact, they have celebrated the Cruces de Mayo (May Crosses) celebrations, this is honour the patron saints of the city. San Ciriaco, and Santa Paula were two of their saints in their city. The said celebration will be celebrated on the 18th of June. Another celebration: Corpus Christi is on June 6th.
The night of San Juan will be celebrated in the month of June 23rd. Procession of Virgen de La Victoria Festival Takes place on 28th day of September.
As of the yearly calendar festivals/ fiestas of Malaganons includes New Year in January 1 or January 2 if coincidentally new year falls in Monday (Jan. 1) then this will be celebrated on the next day January 2.
January 6 will be the Magic Kings. The day of Andalusia carnival is celebrated in the 28th day of February. During the fall of March, the cit of Malaga celebrates the Easter week also in April. At the month of May, a day dedicated for the worker is celebrated during May 1.
In July Falls, Festivities of the Virgen Del Carmen is celebrated on the 16th of July. While, August 15 is Assumption Day, August 19 a merging celebration into the Spanish crown- Malaga. Our lady of the Victoria is celebrated in the month of September 8 according their calendar.
When October comes, the Malaga people have come set for another festivity scheduled for the month of October. The National Spanish Day is proudly celebrated during the fall of 12th in October.
November 1st is meant for All Saints Day celebration. December 6th will be a day celebrating for the Spanish Constitution. December 8th is dedicated for the Immaculate Conception, while Christmas Day is celebrated in Malaga with the whole world.
