It’s an old Muslim castle; this is how they tagged Gibralfaro one of the fortresses found in the city of Malaga, Spain. The Gibralfaro is connected by the dock with the Alcazaba castle but people/ tourists are not allowed to walk passing the edge of Gibralfaro to Alcazaba instead they must pass through its different gate ways by taking a ride on the bus.
The Gibralfaro is overlooking the ancient city of Malaga. At the top of the Gibralfaro is where the journey of knowing Malaga starts. From there, you can see the most famous ancient monuments from centuries ago. Fascinating views of museums like the most noted Museum in the whole world the Picasso Museum. The city Cathedral can also be seen, the bullring of the most famous sport in Malaga, Spain and loads more old buildings.
Most of the tourists say they have been charmed by the looks of the Gibralfaro castle. The castle was built more or less than 14 centuries ago by Yusef of Granada. Yusef contributes the history making the fortresses in Malaga city an Arab heritage and he designed it that way too.
In the 14th century the castle was made as a Phoenician site and lighthouse, this is where the castle’s name was derived from: Gebe- faro (rock of the light house).
In Gibralfaro castle there where you can find also the Parador Hotel Malaga Gibralfaro. The hotel built at the Gibralfaro to let the tourists/ people enjoy more with the city’s gallant beauty.
It has been told that the (Castillo Gibralfaro) Gibralfaro castle is one of the most preserved remains of the Moorish occupation. The said structure of the Gibralfaro has been modified many times over the years as part of the city’s defense.
