Cathedral of the Incarnation Locals refer to the Cathedral as “La manquita” or one armed lady- this is how people of Malaga was properly call the Malaga Cathedral.

The said cathedral was constructed in 1528, the designs and style of the Cathedral were inspired by a combination of the Renaissance, neoclassic and Baroque. The cathedral contains most of the architectural styles from the 16^th to the 18^th century. There are many architectural designs which will be observed inside the Cathedral, due to the participation of the other architectures who have helped with the construction of the Cathedral.

The people in Malaga used to call their Cathedral the one- armed Lady because the Cathedral was not finished while it was under construction. The Cathedral is situated in the heart of the city Malaga. The interior of the Cathedral manifest the best of the architectural designs compiled, reserved and placed inside the place. Images of the Virgin Mary hanged in the walls of the Cathedral were the creations made by great artists of the Malaga city.

However, part of the Cathedral is the place where many images of the Saints were displayed extravagantly by famous artists. Probably the most noticeable attraction inside the Malaga Cathedral are the choir stalls. These stalls were built during the 17^th century. Another thing that can be easily noticed by the people are the sculptural artworks of Pedro de Mena.

The people of Malaga have always been proud of their cathedral; they say they have the most marvelous interesting work of arts such as the “Encarnacion” which gives a name to their Cathedral. Also the most important religious paintings and sculptures in Malaga Cathedral such as the La Piedad, by Luis Morales, the El Divino (The Divine) and the portrait of Saint Paul by Jose de Ribera who have emulated the Carravagios chiaroscuro style are some of the most important collection of Cathedral.

Also it has been said that the birth place of famous Artist Pablo Picasso is nearby the Cathedral.
